Hiring Sidewalk Snow Removal Crew

Hiring Sidewalk Snow Removal Crew

Removing snow and managing ice on sidewalks are important for both pedestrian safety and the Village’s economic vitality. Owners of land that are adjacent to sidewalks are responsible for having at least a 30 inch wide clear path through snow and ice maintained on them. That includes access to crosswalks and fire hydrants. The paths must be cleared within 24 hours after each snowfall. Otherwise the Village is authorized to perform that work at the adjacent property owners’ expense. See Section 175-11 of the Village’s Code for specific details.

So the Village of New Paltz is hiring two seasonal on-call winter workers. Their responsibilities are primarily for shoveling trampled snow. They must also be able to lift 50 pounds. Work begins at least 24 hours after snowfalls. If you are interested in getting paid $18/hour to exercise for a day while you do a simple but essential task on short notice, then please apply at the Clerk’s Office, 25 Plattekill Ave., NY 12561
