PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of New Paltz on March 22, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Village Hall with respect to adopting a local law to permit the Village of New Paltz to exercise its local option under General Municipal Law 103 and State Finance Law 163 to permit procurement and awards based upon best value criteria.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that, any person is entitled to be heard upon the proposed Local Law.  Copies of the proposed Local Law are available for review online here and in-person at:

Snow Removal Reminder

On Thursday 3/16/17 and through late Thursday evening, Village DPW will be taking away snowbanks for pedestrians, parking, and emergency access. Additional “NO PARKING” signage will be posted where they’ll be working. Please look for signs.

Property owners, please have sidewalks clear so neighbors are not walking in streets with traffic – as per 175-11 (B.) REMOVAL OF SNOW AND ICE REQUIRED. “Within 24 hours after cessation of every fall of snow or the formation of any ice on the sidewalk abutting the premises, the owner or occupant shall remove or cause the same to be removed or cleared entirely from the said sidewalk to a minimum width of 30 inches.”

Farm Vendor Recruitment

Farm Vendor Recruitment – Farmers interested in vending at a New Paltz farmers’ seasonal late May to October market should contact David Gilmour, Village Planner, at (845) 255-5758. A proposed time is Sunday afternoons 1:00-4:00 (setup 12:30). Market protocols, basic fees, and promotional strategies are under development.

 

Call for Volunteers: Environmental Policy Board

The Village of New Paltz Environmental Policy Board (EPB) seeks a new volunteer appointment to fill a current vacancy.

Each of the 5 members of this board selects an environmental issue of interest and works with support from the Village Board of Trustees to advance that issue. The EPB also advises the Village Planning Board on matters pertaining to environmental review (SEQR) for proposed development in the Village. Refugees are so welcome here!


On January 19th 2017, the Village of New Paltz Board of Trustees and the Town of New Paltz Council unanimously adopted a joint resolution declaring their support for the resettlement of refugees no matter their religion, race, nationality, or country of origin, in New Paltz, NY and calling upon other Mid-Hudson Valley communities to join them in supporting a stronger national effort to resettle the most vulnerable refugees.

Please join New Paltz’s elected officials and a number of Mid-Hudson Valley groups in supporting refugee resettlement and calling for stronger national efforts to do the same by signing onto >>> this petition <<<
