The Village of New Paltz Office of the Mayor cordially requests community input regarding the potential permanent closure of a section of Huguenot Street. The Village Board of Trustees will be considering this closure presented by the Huguenot Historical Society (HHS) at the Village Board Meeting on November 30th at 7:00 PM at Village Hall, 25 Plattekill Avenue.

The proposed plan involves permanent closure of Huguenot Street between North Front Street and Broadhead Avenue to create a more environmentally and pedestrian friendly area. This section would become a park/pedestrian space for locals and visitors. HHS will take over its maintenance. This closed section of Huguenot Street would remain connected to Village storm drains and water and sewer mains that the Village would have access to and remain responsible for maintaining. The section would also continue to be available to emergency vehicles.

Anyone who wishes to provide feedback regarding the proposed street closure is encouraged to attend the Village Board meeting on November 30th.We also welcome comments sent to assistant@villageofnewpaltz.org.

Please note that the meeting will not include a formal public hearing and that this invitation is for an initial informational session intended to solicit input and hear from members of our community; any formal public hearings and proceedings that may be required if the street closure plan moves forward, inclusive of any necessary environmental review, will be properly noticed for future dates.
