3/25/20 COVID-19: Update #15

Stay connected!

Village Hall remains open with a reduced staff handling calls and essential tasks per Governor Cuomo’s PAUSE order. We have been closed to in-person public visits to Village Hall since 3/13/20.

We know it is important for the public to feel connected during this difficult time, so here are three things to help:

  1. Our staff is fielding calls from residents to help with perfunctory questions and we are chatting with folks longer than usual. Our community needs to stay in touch with each other while we practice social distancing and manage this difficult time. We really appreciate that our staff knows that this extra responsibility is part of their job right now. Do not hesitate to call us here at Village Hall: (845) 255-0130. Direct to the Mayor’s office: (845) 255-1413. You can also reach us via e-mail at assistant@villageofnewpaltz.org.
  2. It is important to check in with older community members, individuals with special needs, or just about anyone, and that’s why we have created the New Paltz Neighbor to Neighbor program. We are seeking volunteers to help organize and participate in this outreach. Phone calls to neighbors are appreciated and reassuring. If you or someone you know is interested in getting involved with Neighbor to Neighbor, or you know someone in need, please contact Trustee William Murray at wmurray@villageofnewpaltz.org.
  3. We have reached out to Family of Woodstock and Family of New Paltz. For years they have offered a hotline to assist people with various challenges and explain the numerous ways Family’s support services can help with the needs of individuals and families. No questions should feel trivial — their staff have been trained to be excellent listeners. Call (845) 255-8801 to reach the Family of New Paltz hotline during business hours (Monday-Thursday, 10:00am-5:00pm and on Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm), and when the New Paltz office is closed the calls are automatically rolled over to their 24/7 hotline in Woodstock (to call Woodstock directly they can be reached at (845-679-2485).
